Santa Ana runs winning streak to five

Santa Ana’s boys soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Costa Mesa, it’s fourth in a row to remain unbeaten in league play.

Senior goalie Randy Guerrero led the Saints (15-5, 10-0-1), opening play and the eventual clean sheet with a tone-setting stop right away, before Brian Maravilla and Damian Hernandez had shots of their own blocked.

Bryan Cisneros scored a first half goal which turned out to be the lone scratch of the contest and got the crowd excited.

Maravilla had another chance to score on a penalty kicked but was stopped.

“I think we’re going to go pretty far in CIF, We have a good team,” Saints senior Fabian Gutierrez said.

Angel Romero added, “We could have definitely done better as a team and I personally could have scored.”

Santa Ana won again on the road Friday afternoon, with another shutout (1-0) against Orange (4-13-3, 2-8-1) behind a second half goal from Cisneros.
