Boys soccer team keeps on winning, advances in CIF playoffs

Santa Ana´s boys soccer team defeated Marshall 1-0 at Santa Ana Stadium Eddie West Field on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.

The Saints (16-5-4) haven’t lost since December and the streak was kept alive by a goal from senior Roberto Estrada, assisted on a free kick by  junior Bryan Cisneros for the only scratch of the game.

The Eagles’ (7-7-2) defense was strong, but Santa Ana’s held just a little tougher as the goalkeepers from both teams didn’t allow anything the rest of the afternoon, despite each team creating several opportunities for themselves.

“We have to keep working hard to get to the finals,” Cisneros said.

The Saints will be at Great Oak (9-5-3) for their second round matchup tomorrow at 3 p.m. The team currently ranks No. 8 in CIF-SS Div. 4 and is is 110th in the state.
