On Friday, Dec. 6, Santa Ana High School’s Dance Department hosted its annual dance festival. The dance festival features not only Santa Ana dancers, but also dance teams from all over Orange County.
Eleven schools participated in the festival, all bringing their unique flair and skills to the stage.
The festival kicked off with a performance by the Saint dancers. They set the stage for the night with energy and enthusiasm. After Santa Ana, Villa Park High School took the stage with a contemporary dance.
Third up was Canyon High School, who performed to “Swan Lake,” presenting a ballet-inspired routine. They beautifully showcased their dance and it was one of the crowd’s favorite dances.
After Canyon, Valley High stepped onto the stage, followed by Irvine.
Each dance team performed different types of dance styles and song genres. They not only showcased their talent and passion for dance, but also the art of dance.
In total, the festival showcased 23 captivating performances across the eleven schools. Aside from the already highlighted schools, other participants included University High School, Godinez, Saddleback, Century High, Cabrillo High, and Anaheim High.
The festival was a success as all the dancers were able to demonstrate their hard work and dedication and everyone who attended left content and with a memorable experience from watching their family and friends dance.
Senior captain Rocio Villegas said, “I love watching all the other teams from all over OC, they’re really good and I’m glad that we can all come together and create this one big thing.”
Dance team senior Eddie De La Cruz added, “The best part about today’s show is seeing all these amazing dancers that come to perform and put it all on the dance floor.”
Dance teacher Ms. Herman said, “To my amazing dancers from Santa Ana, they are amazing, I love their energy, I love seeing them dance on stage. It makes me really really proud and I know they have my back, I really appreciate them and love them all.”
