The Interact Club had its first meeting of the semester Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The meeting started with the four way test, which promotes decisions that are ethical, fair, and beneficial to those involved. During the meeting, members introduced new events they will be taking part in and advertised them to the group.
They advertised the Lunar New Year event hosted by Santa Ana. In this event the members of the club are able to tie blankets for those who have been diagnosed with Cancer. They also talked about an event with the Asian American Senior Citizens (AASCSC) to host a self care workshop on February 8.
The Interact club also has the opportunity to send a few juniors or sophomores to a trip known as RYLA. At RYLA, the Interact members are able to get out of their comfort zone and talk to new people, and try activities they have never tried before, like ziplining.
The Interact club has been part of many other community events such as “Breakfast With Santa,” where they helped give wrap gifts and pass them out to kids who live with Autism. Other members were helping at game stations and interacting with the kids. They also participated in a Hydrocephalus Walk, in support of those who live with Hydrocephalus.
The Interact club emphasizes giving back and interacting with the communities of Santa Ana and Orange County. They also focus on community service and helping others out.
Club president Bryan Figueroa said, “I would recommend the Interact club to others because it’s a place where you can gain confidence as it aims to help students develop their ability to become leaders in their community.”
Senior Harmony Rodriguez said, “I like being part of the Interact Club because it’s a great way to give back to the community and create a positive environment.”
The Interact club is a great way to meet new people and take part in creating a change within the surrounding environment.
