Saints’ mark remains unblemished in league play
The Santa Ana boys soccer remained undefeated in Orange Coast League play, coming up with a 2-1 victory over Calvary Chapel on Friday afternoon at the Santa Ana Bowl.
The Saints (12-5-3, 7-0-1) found the back of the net twice after a scoreless first half, with goals from juniors Bryan Cisneros and Alfredo Ceja and the team’s communication was noticeable throughout the game.
Oswaldo Becerra and Adrian Mendoza had chances earlier on to put the Saints up 1-0, coming up just short before Cisneros and Gustavo Herrera connected to put them on the scoresheet.
The Eagles (3-12, 1-8) created some opportunities, but never converted until the last minute when it was just a little too late.
Santa Ana currently ranks 383rd in the nation and 134 in the state of California, while sitting at No.7 in CIF Southern Section Division 4.
“It feels good to be ranked nationally, but we want to be higher,” Saints senior goalkeeper Randy Guerrero said.
The saints turn to the field this afternoon when they host Costa Mesa (5-14-4, 3-3-2) at 5 p.m. at Santa Ana Bowl.
