The Santa Ana football team dropped its home opener by a score of 23-12 on August 25 against Laguna Hills.
After falling behind 23-0, senior Charles Hughes scored an eight-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter to get the Saints (1-1) on the board.
They scored again in the 4th when senior quarterback Sergio Torres launched a 31-yard touchdown pass to junior Cristian Ramos, but that’s where it would end as the Hawks (2-0) wouldn’t need to add on.
“I thought I gave it hope to come back and play for pride, not giving up, and not putting ourselves down,” Ramos said.
“Our goals are to make it to the CIF championship and win,” he added.
The saints had 190 total yards of offense, consisting of 137 passing yards and 53 rushing yards. They also had one turnover in the game.
Before that, on August 18th, the Saints opened the season on the road with a 37-13 nonleague win over Paramount (0-2).
Santa Ana returns to the field tonight to take on the Garden Grove Argonauts (1-1) at the Santa Ana Bowl at 7 p.m.
