Following a historic season for Santa Ana High School’s boys water polo team, the players continue to make their school proud with their accomplishments as the postseason honors roll in.
Two seniors from the team were named First Team All-CIF after their run to the Southern Section Division 4 semifinals.
The seniors nominated are Isaiah Simmons and captain Yediel Cecilio. Out of a total of 13 players nominated from the division, they secured two spots.
Apart from the first-teamers, senior Mathew Derek Macedo also got nominated as part of the second team and junior Andrew Miguel made third team.
Simmons expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s a really great feeling. I’ve been practicing for three years now, and to finally get something like that is awesome and cool to me.”
When asked about being nominated alongside his teammate, Simmons added, “I’m grateful that we both got nominated.”
“It wasn’t easy to get here, especially how we went from D7 to D4,” Cecilio said.
Cecilio also said, “Im happy that some of us got nominated, it should’ve been more, but I’m glad that some of us got it.”
